13-valent usually refers to the 13-valent pneumonia vaccine. After injection of this vaccine, mild adverse reactions usually disappear within 24 to 72 hours; if severe adverse reactions occur, seek medical attention.
The 13-valent pneumonia vaccine is mainly used for the prevention of pneumonia, sinusitis, otitis media and meningitis in infants and children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. It can also be used to vaccinate children at high risk of Streptococcus pneumoniae infection as well as adults. It is an inactivated vaccine, which retains the antigenic properties of the germs, and the antigen stimulates the body to produce the corresponding antibodies, thus preventing the corresponding diseases.
After injection of this vaccine, adverse reactions such as fever, loss of appetite, drowsiness, redness, swelling and pain at the injection site, and skin rash may occur, and mild reactions usually disappear after 24 to 72 hours. A small number of patients have more serious adverse reactions, such as high fever, severe vomiting, diarrhea, severe allergy and breathing difficulties.
Vaccination is prohibited for people who are allergic to vaccine components, have fever, active stage of disease, preparation for pregnancy and breastfeeding, and pregnant women. Vaccination should be carried out under the guidance of clinicians to avoid adverse reactions.
