How long can one live after surgery for intermediate stage esophageal cancer (esophageal cancer) is related to the condition of the body and neoadjuvant radiotherapy before and after surgery. Clinically, it is generally expressed by 5-year survival rate, which is not more than 35% in most cases, and it may be more than 60% when actively cooperating with the treatment. Intermediate stage of esophageal cancer generally refers to TNM stage III, i.e.: the length of cancerous lesion is more than 5cm, invades the muscle layer or outer layer, and there are metastases in local lymph nodes. The 5-year survival rate of intermediate stage esophageal cancer surgery is generally not more than 35%. The 5-year survival rate of intermediate-term esophageal cancer surgery assisted with preoperative and postoperative chemotherapy or radiotherapy can reach 60%, and a small number of patients can survive for a long time. After intermediate esophageal cancer surgery, patients need to have a good mindset to face the disease, strengthen nutrition, enhance immunity, follow the doctor’s prescription of regular radiotherapy and exercise properly to achieve a longer survival period and higher quality of life. Therefore, intermediate stage esophageal cancer surgery is recommended to carry out adjuvant treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy under doctor’s guidance.
