Can people with high blood pressure take American ginseng?

Patients with hypertension can use American ginseng if indicated. American ginseng is the dried root of American ginseng in the family of Wujiaceae, with sweet, slightly bitter flavor and cool meridian nature. It has the efficacy of tonifying qi and nourishing yin, clearing heat and generating fluids. It is often used in the treatment of deficiency of qi and yin, resulting in deficiency of qi and yin, coughing, asthma, phlegm and blood, internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by symptoms such as overeating, drinking and urinating), and dryness of mouth and pharynx. Radix Panax Ginseng should not be used together with Veratrum. It should be taken with caution by those who are suffering from dampness-heat and fire, deficiency of middle yang and those who are blocked by cold-dampness. Under the guidance of a physician, American ginseng may be used in hypertensive patients with indications. If there is a need for medication, one should consult a physician and use the medication under his/her guidance, not blindly, in order to avoid adverse effects on the body.
