Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata is sweet and slightly warm in nature, and belongs to the liver and kidney meridians. It has the efficacy and function of tonifying blood and nourishing yin, filling the marrow (replenishing the essence of vital energy and essence, and promoting the development of bone marrow). It can be used to treat various symptoms caused by blood deficiency, such as dizziness, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), insomnia and irregular menstruation. It can also be used to treat symptoms of Yin deficiency of the liver and kidney, such as tinnitus and deafness, night sweating (sweating abnormally after going to sleep and stopping after waking up), and spermatorrhea. Because of the sticky and greasy nature of Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, it will hinder digestion, so it is contraindicated for those who have distension and pain in the epigastrium (abdomen), and loose stools (scanty and unformed feces).
