Is raw licorice or roasted licorice used in Ganmai Dazao Tang?

Ganmai Dazao Tang uses raw licorice.
Gan Mai Da Zao Tang is composed of three medicines: raw licorice, jujube and wheat. It has the effects of nourishing the heart and strengthening the spleen, calming the mind and tranquilizing the spirit. It is mainly used for treating women with deficiency of visceral yin, resulting in suffering from visceral dryness, mental trance, sadness and desire to cry, inability to be autonomous, frequent yawning, or even speech and behavioral disorders.
Wheat nourishes heart yin, benefits heart qi, calms the mind and removes vexation and heat (irritability and sultriness); licorice nourishes heart qi, harmonizes the middle and eases urgency (relieves pain by regulating the spleen and stomach) (Liver); jujube is sweet, flat and moistening, benefiting qi and neutralizing the middle (replenishes qi and regulates the spleen and stomach), moistening dryness and easing urgency.
If you need to take Gan Mai Da Zao Tang, patients are advised to use the medicine under the guidance of a doctor’s diagnosis, and do not use the medicine on your own to avoid delaying or aggravating the condition.
