Lung Cancer Cough Metallic Tone

The causes of lung cancer cough with metallic tone include tumor compression, airway hyperreactivity and local inflammatory reaction. The continuous enlargement of cancer tumor compresses airway and causes narrowing of airway, and airflow through narrowed airway will produce high-pitched metallic sound; meanwhile, airway hyperreactivity and local inflammation will also stimulate airway and cause narrowing of airway, which will produce high-pitched metallic sound. When coughing with metallic sound, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to clarify the cause, and the symptomatic treatment under the doctor’s guidance, such as surgical resection of the tumor to release the airway compression; the use of drugs such as albuterol to reduce the reactivity of the airway; and the use of antibiotics, such as penicillin to control the inflammation. It is recommended that patients actively cooperate with doctors to receive standardized treatment to improve the prognosis of the disease.
