A blood pressure of 140/100mmHg is classified as grade 2 hypertension. Blood pressure is generally categorized into 3 grades; Grade 1 hypertension diagnostic criteria are systolic blood pressure of 140-159mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure of 90-99mmHg, Grade 2 hypertension diagnostic criteria are systolic blood pressure of 160-179mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure of 100-109mmHg, and Grade 3 hypertension diagnostic criteria are systolic blood pressure of ≥ 180mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure of ≥ 110mmHg. Blood pressure of 140/100 mmHg, systolic blood pressure belongs to the diagnostic criteria for grade 1 hypertension, and diastolic blood pressure belongs to the diagnostic criteria for grade 2 hypertension, whichever is the higher grading, and therefore belongs to grade 2 hypertension. A diagnosis of hypertension can be made by measuring blood pressure ≥140 mmHg systolic and/or ≥90 mmHg diastolic on 3 occasions on non-same days without the use of antihypertensive medication. Patients with a previous history of hypertension and currently using antihypertensive medication, although their blood pressure is below 140/90 mm Hg, are also diagnosed with hypertension. If abnormal blood pressure occurs, please consult the hospital in time for active treatment, so as to avoid poor control of blood pressure and adverse consequences.
