MRI generally refers to plain scans, while enhanced MRI is an exam in which contrast is injected intravenously to visualize the lesion on the basis of plain scans. Therefore, the main difference between enhanced MRI and MRI is that the contrast agent is injected and several more sequences are scanned. The injection can be used to determine the type or nature of the lesion by using the different functional sources of blood supply to the lesion and the normal tissue and the different MRI signals after the contrast agent is ingested. Many organ tumors are complex and cannot be determined by general MRI. It is more accurate to use the time, sequence and morphology of lesion enhancement after contrast injection.
