The normal range of heart rate during walking is mostly below 120 bpm, and may remain below 100 bpm during light activity. Most normal adults have a resting heart rate between 60-80 bpm. The heart rate may increase after a little activity, but most will not exceed 120 bpm. With exercise such as jogging or brisk walking, the heart rate may be raised to about 80% of the maximum heart rate, for example, a 30-year-old patient’s heart rate is around 140 beats/min when jogging or brisk walking. Patients can monitor their heart rate appropriately in normal life, and if the heart rate is fast they can improve their cardiorespiratory function through exercise, which can assist in lowering the heart rate in the long run.
