The main way of transmission of Ebola virus is contact transmission, which can be caused by the blood and secretions of infected people entering into healthy people through broken skin or mucous membranes. Ebola virus is a non-segmented, single-stranded, negative-stranded RNA virus belonging to the family of filoviruses.
The current FDA-approved Ebola drug is the monoclonal antibody Ebanga, which can be used to treat Ebola virus infection in adults and children. Its safety and efficacy were evaluated in a multicenter, open-label, randomized controlled trial called PLAM. However, there are no data or relevant clinical studies on herbal medicines for the treatment of Ebola.
