How to treat intracranial occupations

There are many causes of intracranial occupations, including trauma, tumors, hematomas, abscesses, and granulomas. Surgery or drug treatment is chosen according to the specific situation.
1. Treatment of trauma: mainly caused by depressed fracture and post-traumatic hematoma, the former is feasible for the fracture plate to be reset or removed if it meets the indications of surgery, and the latter is feasible for hematoma removal.
2. Treatment of hematoma: there are three types of hematoma: epidural hematoma, subdural hematoma and intracerebral hematoma. Regardless of the type, once the specific location is determined by CT, open bone flap or bone window hematoma removal surgery is feasible. If the hematoma causes intracranial hypertension, mannitol can be used to reduce intracranial pressure.
3. Treatment of tumor occupancy: it is divided into two types: direct surgery and palliative surgery. The former, such as tumor resection, is mainly applicable to benign tumors such as meningioma. The latter, such as decompression surgery, is mainly applicable to malignant tumors with deeper infiltration that cannot be directly resected.
4. Treatment of abscess: cerebral abscess, subdural abscess, epidural abscess. Mainly take comprehensive treatment, brain abscess need to apply antibiotic treatment, such as penicillin and so on. Subdural abscesses often require emergency drainage because most of them are in critical condition.
5. Treatment of granuloma occupatum: often caused by parasites such as schistosomes and pork tapeworms. The main treatment is to remove the lesion, if it can not be completely removed or found that the intracranial pressure is increased, decompression surgery or shunt surgery is feasible. For Cysticercus cerebri or Schistosoma haematobium, Schistosoma pulmonarum, anthelmintic drugs such as praziquantel can be used as an adjunct.
Once patients are found to have intracranial space-occupying lesions, they should consult a doctor and listen to his or her advice, and the use of medication should be in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
