Conservative treatment has a long history of a thousand years in China. There are many methods of conservative treatment; Chinese medicine medication (oral, external), local medicine heat fumigation, acupuncture, fire cupping, tui na, traction, small needle knife, local seal, sacral drip, and some prescriptions, etc., which have cured a large number of patients with low back pain caused by lumbar muscle strain and low back pain caused by early lumbar synostosis. The advantage of conservative treatment is that it is inexpensive, does not require equipment and is very practical. However, if the symptoms do not improve significantly after a month of treatment, the treatment method must be changed. The clinical manifestation of lumbar synostosis is low back pain and radiating pain in the lower limbs; this is the rupture of the intervertebral disc’s fibrous ring, degeneration, and the overflow of chemical substances from the nucleus pulposus, causing sciatica behind the disc (radiating pain in the lower limbs), and because the location of the disc in the human body is deep and complex, the straight-line distance from the surface skin to the rupture of the disc is 4-5cm, and there are bones in the way, so conservative treatment is difficult to put in place. The reason for the poor efficacy! If the patient has sciatica, massage and traction may enlarge the rupture of the disc and aggravate the clinical symptoms, so caution is needed. Interventional treatment is carried out under imaging equipment and instruments, which is more targeted, especially CT-guided drug interventional treatment, which injects drugs directly on the surface of the ruptured disc under CT guidance, just like watering flowers, directly pouring drugs on the roots of the flowers, i.e. not destroying the disc and maintaining the function of the disc. For patients whose conservative treatment is ineffective or whose symptoms do not improve significantly, and who do not want to have surgery, CT-guided drug intervention is a good choice.
