Gray matter heterotopia is a malformation of cortical development caused by the inability of neurons to migrate to normal sites during embryogenesis due to drug-virus infection or metabolic abnormalities or genetic factors. The best time to treat gray matter heterotopia is the earlier the better, and try to choose to deal with it in infancy. Gray matter heterotopia can appear clinically as seizures, mental intellectual developmental disorders, and hemiplegia, and early identification of symptoms is also very important to diagnose. If the diagnosis of gray matter heterotaxy can be established early, active application of antiepileptic drugs can effectively control seizures. Most patients who are not particularly effective with antiepileptic drugs can be treated with surgery. Patients with mental retardation and hemiparesis need to be actively given nerve-nourishing drugs with rehabilitation training.
