How long does it take to recover from a partial meniscus tear resection

Rehabilitation after partial meniscectomy for meniscus tear can start the same day after surgery. The rehabilitation cycle usually lasts for 3 months, and the content of rehabilitation training varies in different periods. From 1 day to 4 weeks after surgery: compression bandages and elevation of the affected limb are required after surgery. After anesthesia subsides, ankle pump exercises, isometric contraction exercises for quadriceps and posterior thigh muscles, and straight leg raising exercises in all directions are started. Passive knee flexion to 90° was performed 1 week after surgery. Multi-angle isometric resisted knee extension exercises were performed 2 to 4 weeks postoperatively. Passive knee flexion to 120° and active knee flexion to 90° at 4 weeks postoperatively, and start practicing rotating the calf with partial weight bearing. 5~7 weeks after surgery: gradually increase the weight-bearing of the lower limb on the affected side, until 6 weeks after surgery can be basically 100% weight-bearing. 8~12 weeks after surgery: strengthen the muscle strength of the posterior thigh group, perform anterior-posterior and lateral stepping exercises and stationary bicycle exercises. 3 months after surgery: the muscle strength of the affected side can reach more than 85% of that of the healthy side, and exercise can be fully resumed. Rehabilitation after partial meniscus tear resection needs to be carried out under doctor’s guidance to avoid secondary injury.
