Kidneys are usually not visible on a chest CT. Chest CT is a method of examining the chest through X-ray computed tomography. It mainly looks at bilateral lung lobes, trachea, bronchus, large blood vessels of the heart, esophagus, and mediastinal structures. Chest diseases such as pneumonia and space-occupying lesions can be detected. The kidneys are located behind the peritoneum, on both sides of the spine, close to the posterior abdominal wall. The kidneys are usually not visible on chest CT. Suspected renal lesions are usually subjected to blood tests, urine tests, imaging tests, etc. Imaging tests include abdominal ultrasound, CT, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The more commonly used is renal ultrasound. Renal ultrasound can understand the size of the kidney, the thickness of the cortex and medullary echogenicity, and so on, and can determine the general situation of the patient’s renal function through imaging methods. If patients feel uncomfortable, it is recommended to seek medical treatment as soon as possible to avoid delaying the condition.
