How to do blood culture

Blood culture is a laboratory order issued by the clinic to collect blood culture according to the patient’s own condition. After the clinical laboratory order is issued, the nurse will collect blood culture during the chills or pre-fever period. When the fever peaks, the white blood cells in the blood will start to engulf the bacteria, and the positive rate of the bacteria detected at this time may be low, so before the white blood cells start, the blood culture will be collected during the chill period or the pre-fever period, and then sent to the microbiology laboratory, after the microbiology laboratory receives the specimen, the blood culture will be put into a special incubator to cultivate, and the blood culture growth curve will be observed every day. If there is bacterial growth, the instrument will automatically alarm and the blood culture bottle will be taken out at the first time, followed by smear for microscopic examination and inoculation onto the blood plate, and the bacterial growth and the results of the smear will be reported to the clinician at the first time, which will help the clinician’s preliminary diagnosis.
