Bladder cancer is a malignant tumor, and low grade means that the tumor is less malignant rather than being on the benign side.
Bladder cancer is prevalent in the elderly and is the most common malignant tumor of the urinary system. The vast majority of bladder cancer originates from the bladder epithelial tissue, which is classified as uroepithelial cancer. Low-grade refers to the histologic grading of bladder cancer. Compared with high-grade, low-grade cancer has the characteristics of low malignancy and good differentiation.
In addition to histologic grading, clinical grading and the patient’s own condition should also be referred to in guiding the treatment of bladder cancer. Clinically, bladder cancer is often categorized as muscle-invasive or non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
Ultimately, clinicians will combine histological grading, clinical staging and the patient’s own condition to personalize the appropriate treatment.
