How to type intertrochanteric fractures

The main types of intertrochanteric fracture are Evans’ type and AO type. 1.Evans type: type 1, simple two-part fracture without displacement is type 1A, with displacement is type 1B; type 2, three-part fracture, including the greater rotor bone block is type 2A, including the lesser rotor bone block is type 2B; type 3, four-part fracture, involving both the greater and lesser rotors. 2.AO typing:Type A1, simple (two-part) fracture with the fracture line extending to the medial cortex and the outer cortex where the greater rotor is located is intact.Type A2, comminuted fracture occurring when the fracture line extends medially through any part of the greater rotor.Type A3, fracture of the antitrochanteric intertrochanteric fracture, with rupture of the cortex in all directions of the fracture. Typing of intertrochanteric femoral fractures provides a basis for treatment.
