Artificial joint replacement technology has been widely accepted as the most effective means of treating advanced bone joints, but the most important question is: How many years will the replacement joint last? How can we achieve the most successful artificial joint replacement? Artificial joint technology originated in the 1940’s. During my study and exchange in several advanced joint centers abroad, I found that it was very common to see artificial joints that were more than 20-30 years old and that they functioned very well, and the patients had a very good quality of life, not only being able to perform their daily lives, but also being able to engage in their favorite sports activities. A successful artificial joint replacement surgery is the result of several factors, the first is the patient’s selection of indications, according to different patient conditions to choose a different artificial replacement; then the quality of the artificial joint prosthesis, to choose a proven prosthesis; third is the quality of surgery, of course, this is the most critical factor for a successful surgery, the doctor must be able to patient condition, prosthesis characteristics, surgical operation details, etc. Finally, the patient’s cooperation, how to apply, how to exercise, how to protect, etc., which is also very important, is a crucial factor for the safe, long-term, good application of artificial joints. Therefore, a variety of factors should be considered in order to obtain a long-term successful artificial joint replacement.
