When dyspepsia is treated by applying San Fu Paste, acupoints such as Spleen Yu, Stomach Yu, Foot San Li, Middle Epigastric and Liang Qiu can be selected in order to strengthen the spleen and harmonize the stomach.
Spleen Yu is located in the eleventh thoracic vertebrae under the spinous process, 1.5 inches away from the posterior midline. Stomach Yu is below the spinous process of the twelfth thoracic vertebra, 1.5 inches away from the posterior midline. The foot Sanli point is 3 inches below the calf’s nose, one transverse finger beside the anterior ridge of the tibia. The middle epigastric point is four inches above the center of the umbilicus. Liang Qiu is 2 inches above the base of the patella, between the lateral femoral muscle and the rectus femoris tendon.
After selecting the acupoints, first local disinfection, and then the made San Fu paste fixed with medical tape. Avoid strenuous exercise after applying the patch to prevent the tape and medicine cake from falling off. Patch treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a professional physician.
