Does Gardnerella positive heal on its own?

Gardnerella positive is less likely to heal on its own because Gardnerella is present in the vagina, but when the vaginal flora is disturbed to some extent, such as when there is a significant decrease in Lactobacillus, it may cause Gardnerella to multiply and proliferate, resulting in bacterial vaginitis due to dysbiosis. Gardnerella is a pathogenic bacterium and its prolonged presence can lead to a further reduction of vaginal probiotics and the metabolism of a large number of amines that can stimulate the vaginal wall, causing abnormal discharge or itching, odor and other symptoms, and in severe cases, retrograde infection. Therefore, Gardnerella positive infection, i.e. bacterial vaginitis, can be treated with metronidazole with little difficulty.
