Can an EEG be done for cerebral palsy?

Cerebral palsy EEG may be abnormal, but a diagnosis of cerebral palsy cannot be made on the basis of EEG findings. EEG is a neurophysiologic test to understand the functional state of the brain through tracing and evoked tests. EEG is mainly used for the qualitative and localized diagnosis of epilepsy and the diagnosis of organic and functional brain lesions, and has diagnostic significance for cerebral palsy combined with epilepsy, but does not have definite diagnostic significance for cerebral palsy. When the patient is combined with epilepsy, the EEG may have abnormal manifestations, such as spiking waves, sharp waves, sharp-slow complex waves, and so on. Cerebral palsy should be treated as early as possible after diagnosis. Cerebral palsy, i.e. cerebral palsy, is mainly characterized by movement disorders and postural abnormalities, and may be accompanied by speech delay, mental retardation and epilepsy in some patients. Imaging tests such as cranial magnetic resonance and CT can show whether there are abnormalities in the brain structure, but currently the diagnosis of cerebral palsy is mainly based on clinical manifestations and physical signs. When cerebral palsy is suspected, it is important to go to the hospital in time and choose the appropriate treatment after examination and evaluation by a doctor to avoid delay.
