Facial paralysis and slurred speech may be related to acute cerebrovascular disease, including common cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage. We need to consult the doctor immediately and have a CT or MRI examination to confirm the diagnosis. If it is clear that the facial paralysis and slurred speech are caused by acute cerebral infarction, it is necessary to consult the doctor within six hours for thrombolytic therapy, and common drugs include urokinase and alteplase. If the time window for thrombolysis is missed, a series of symptomatic treatments such as improving circulation, inhibiting platelet aggregation, and scavenging oxygen free radicals can be administered. If it is clear that the cerebral hemorrhage is causing facial paralysis and slurred speech, a series of symptomatic treatments such as cerebral protection, dehydration and lowering of cranial pressure can be performed. If the facial paralysis caused by acute cerebrovascular disease such as cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage is excluded by brain CT or magnetic resonance imaging, then it is likely to be related to facial neuritis, which can be treated with a series of symptomatic treatments such as hormone orally to reduce the edema of the facial nerve, nutrient nerves, antiviral therapy, and acupuncture, cupping and other therapies to treat facial paralysis.
