How should patients with acute suppurative otitis media care for their ears?

Before administering the medication, clean the pus in the external ear canal and middle ear cavity, usually with 3% hydrogen peroxide, and then swab it with a cotton swab or use an aspirator to suck up the pus before administering the medication. The drops should be administered in the correct way: sitting or lying down with the affected ear facing upwards. Gently pull the auricle backwards and upwards and put 3 to 4 drops of medicine into the external ear canal. Then gently press the ear screen several times with your fingers to encourage the medication to flow into the middle ear through the tympanic membrane perforation. After 10-15 minutes, the position can be changed to allow the drug to flow out. Note that the ear drops should be as close to the body temperature as possible to avoid vertigo.
