What vaccinations do babies get at six months?

Generally speaking, babies need to be vaccinated with Type I vaccines such as Hepatitis B vaccine and Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) vaccine when they are six months old if there are no special circumstances. Category I vaccines are planned vaccines, which are free and included in the national regulations for planned immunization. These vaccines include BCG, Hepatitis B, and polio vaccines, and should be scheduled in order after the baby is born. When your baby is six months old, he/she needs to receive the third dose of Hepatitis B vaccine. The Hepatitis B vaccine is divided into three shots, with the first being administered 24 hours after birth and the second at full term. The Hepatitis B vaccine is effective in preventing infection with the Hepatitis B virus and needs to be completed by the time your baby is six months old. Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is very common in children and the symptoms can be severe and life threatening. Therefore, babies should receive the first vaccination at six months of age and the second vaccination at seven months of age to prevent HFMD. In addition to the Type I vaccine, babies can also receive the influenza vaccine to prevent Influenza A and Influenza B.
