Can people with gout run?

Gout remission patients can be appropriate jogging, but should not run too long and too fast, such as the emergence of maladaptation timely stop; gout acute attack is not recommended running, try to keep the joints braked, so as not to aggravate the joint pain.
Gout is a heterogeneous group of diseases caused by purine metabolism disorders and (or) uric acid excretion disorders, which are clinically characterized by elevated serum uric acid, repeated episodes of acute arthritis, gouty stones and joint deformities, uric acid renal calculi, glomerular, tubular, renal interstitial, and vascular renal lesions.
Moderate jogging in patients with gout in remission can help patients control their weight, and also increase the amount of water to promote uric acid excretion, which can help patients control their condition, but it is not recommended that patients run fast or long-distance running, as strenuous exercise can make the body produce too much organic acid and thus inhibit the excretion of uric acid, which will lead to an increase in the risk of gouty attacks.
Patients with acute attacks of gout may experience redness, swelling, heat and pain in the joints, and in severe cases, joint dysfunction may also occur. During this period, patients should try to rest in bed and elevate the affected limbs to keep the joints braked, so running and other sports are not recommended to avoid aggravating the inflammatory response, which may lead to aggravation of the condition.
It is recommended that patients with gout go to the rheumatology and immunology departments of regular hospitals in a timely manner, and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized diagnosis and treatment.
