Advanced stages of tuberculous meningitis can be treated. The treatment methods are drug treatment and surgery.
1. Drug treatment: commonly used drugs are anti-tuberculosis drug treatment, common anti-tuberculosis drugs are isoniazid, ethambutol and so on, which are used to kill Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
2. Surgical treatment: when drug treatment is ineffective and the condition worsens, surgical treatment is considered. The treatment methods include lateral ventricle puncture drainage and shunt surgery.
(1) Lateral ventricular puncture drainage: when the patient has hydrocephalus and other treatment methods are ineffective, lateral ventricular puncture drainage is chosen to reduce intracranial pressure.
(2) Shunt surgery: When the patient’s meninges are adherent and the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid is not smooth, the symptoms will be improved by shunt surgery.
If the diagnosis of advanced tuberculous meningitis is confirmed, it is recommended to actively consult the doctor and actively cooperate with the treatment.
