Can babies get water in their ears at bath time

Babies can’t get water into their ears when taking a bath, mainly for the following reasons: First, babies’ ear canals are relatively small and narrow, once water enters, especially dirty water, it is easy to induce infections in the ear canals, inducing acute otitis externa, tympanitis and other related illnesses, leading to ear pain, fever and other related symptoms. Secondly, if there is cerumen in the ear canal of infants, once water enters into the ear canal, it will lead to cerumen swelling, and after swelling, it will lead to ear stuffiness and blockage, hearing loss, and even induce infection. Thirdly, if the baby has chronic otitis media in the past, water in the ear when bathing will cause purulent otitis media to aggravate again, resulting in pus flowing from the ear canal, and even fever, headache, nausea, vomiting and other related symptoms. Therefore, babies should try not to get water in their ears when bathing, and should be gentle when bathing. If a little water accidentally gets inside the ear canal, you can take a cotton swab and wipe the water out at the mouth of the ear canal.
