Rehabilitation training methods for ankle hemiplegia should be chosen according to the different periods of hemiplegia, mainly focusing on joint mobility training and muscle strength training.
When the patient is in the early stage of hemiplegia and cannot subconsciously dominate the muscles near the affected ankle to produce movement, the rehabilitation training method mainly focuses on passive movement of the ankle joint and stimulation of muscle contraction, which induces active contraction of the muscles and enables the ankle joint to move in all directions.
When the patient can randomly appear the common movement of the lower limbs, the calf triceps can be stretched by standing against the wall and stepping on the inclined board to increase the mobility of the ankle joint and prevent the Achilles tendon from shortening due to spasticity.
When the patient starts to show separation movement and the spasticity starts to weaken, the patient can practice the hook foot exercise in the supine position with the affected side flexing the hip and knee to improve the control of ankle dorsiflexion, and gradually progress to the hook foot exercise in the sitting and standing positions.
Rehabilitation training for ankle hemiplegia should be assessed, supervised and guided by professionals to avoid secondary injury.
