How long does it take to recover from postpartum hypertension

How long it takes to recover from postpartum hypertension varies from person to person, most women can recover after delivery, a small number of women may have poorly controlled blood pressure after delivery and need oral antihypertensive medication for treatment, usually about 2 months to return to normal. After 20 weeks of pregnancy, pregnant women are prone to hypertension, proteinuria and edema, called gestational hypertension syndrome, which usually returns to normal in 6 weeks after delivery. The time to normalize blood pressure after delivery varies from person to person due to individual physical condition and recovery after delivery. In most cases, blood pressure should return to normal at the end of labor, but some women have elevated blood pressure during pregnancy, resulting in unsatisfactory postpartum blood pressure control, which requires further treatment, and most can return to normal in about 2 months. If the blood pressure does not recover 2 months after delivery through active systemic treatment, the possibility of chronic hypertension should be considered. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to dietary control after delivery, improve through dietary therapy, and try to control body intake to avoid elevated blood pressure.
