The healing period of an ulnar fracture is about three months. During the first two weeks of the fracture, the hematoma is gradually absorbed and replaced by granulation tissue, and a fibrous bone scab gradually connects the two ends of the fracture. At four weeks, the fibrous scab is gradually replaced by a bony scab, and the fracture gradually acquires initial stability. At eight weeks, the bony scab is replaced by a Haversian plate, and the fracture acquires a strength similar to that of normal cortical bone. Clinical healing of the fracture is achieved at three months, when the fracture line is blurred or disappears on radiographs.
