If there is a lack of functional exercise of the affected upper limb after modified radical breast cancer surgery, there will be easy adhesions around the shoulder joint and pain around the shoulder, which will impede the movement of the shoulder. Shoulder joint function plays an important role in the whole upper limb, and its loss of function will lead to the loss of most of the upper limb functions. Adherence to at least six months of shoulder joint-centered exercise rehabilitation is crucial to the rehabilitation of the affected upper limb function after breast cancer surgery. Patients can start fist clenching exercise within 24 hours after surgery. On the 2nd postoperative day, patients can start to move their wrists up and down with internal and external rotation of the wrist. Flexion and extension of the forearm up and down were possible on the 3rd postoperative day. Depending on the patient’s condition, 10 to 15 minutes each time, 3 times a day. Elbow exercises on the affected side were started on postoperative day 5. 1 to 2 weeks after surgery: Shoulder joint exercises are the main exercises, which can be performed using tables, beds, walls, etc. for 20 min each time, 4 to 5 times a day. It should be done according to the guidance of the doctor and nurse and in a gradual manner. Fourteen days after modified radical breast cancer surgery, the patient has been discharged to return to her family and the wound has basically healed. After the removal of stitches, comprehensive exercises must be performed with the shoulder joint as the center to prevent shoulder pain and contracture stiffness of the upper limb joints. Principles of exercise rehabilitation care: 1. Pay attention to slow, gentle movements and gradual progress. It is normal to have a slight soreness and pulling sensation. 2.Practice in front of a mirror during training, pay attention to the balance of both shoulders to prevent sloping shoulders. 3.Practice 3-4 times a day, repeat each movement 10-20 times each time, and insist on more than half a year. 4.Prepare for the training by massaging and loosening the shoulder joint, pushing, kneading, rolling, patting, plucking, etc. at the shoulder peak, biceps, deltoid, etc. Massage the shoulder joint by pushing, kneading, rolling, tapping, plucking, etc., and shrugging after the muscles are relaxed. For more details on the training, please refer to the CD-ROM of sports rehabilitation training made by the hospital. Besides, walking is the best way to recover and relax. After chemotherapy and removal of the PICC tube, playing Tai Chi and doing radio exercises are also suitable rehabilitation methods. If physical strength allows, swimming is also an ideal rehabilitation exercise method. If the standardized postoperative rehabilitation treatment is actively carried out, breast cancer patients can fully recover the motor function of the affected upper limb in 40 days to 4 months after surgery. Gradual functional exercise of the affected limb after breast cancer surgery can promote the early recovery of the motor function of the affected upper limb and improve the quality of life of patients.
