Is rhinitis contagious?

There are acute rhinitis and chronic rhinitis; there are also dry rhinitis and atrophic rhinitis. Acute rhinitis is more contagious because it is a viral infection. All rhinitis, except acute rhinitis, are not contagious. Acute rhinitis, is an acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa caused by a viral infection, commonly known as a cold, also known as an upper respiratory tract infection. The inflammation of acute rhinitis, which often extends to the sinuses or throat, is highly contagious. Acute rhinitis, a self-healing inflammatory disease, will usually heal on its own in 7-10 days if there is no secondary bacterial infection. Chronic rhinitis, is a common chronic inflammatory disease in otorhinolaryngology characterized by nasal congestion, or mucus flow for more than 4 weeks, or recurrent inflammation, often without a clear causative microorganism. Atrophic rhinitis, on the other hand, is a chronic nasal disease characterized by atrophy of the nasal mucosa and turbinates; dry rhinitis is a chronic nasal disease characterized by dryness of the nasal mucosa and reduced secretions. The latter three chronic inflammatory nasal lesions are not contagious because none of the pathogenic microorganisms are present. As acute rhinitis is highly contagious, during its onset, pay attention to isolation. Take proper rest and drink plenty of hot water to prevent secondary bacterial infections that can lead to complications such as acute sinusitis.
