Bleeding from the ear canal may be related to ear trauma, otitis media, tympanic membrane perforation and other diseases, which need to be treated according to the specific cause.
1. Ear trauma: Ear digging or external blows can lead to damage to the skin of the external ear canal, resulting in ear bleeding and ear pain and other symptoms of ear trauma. Cotton balls or gauze can be used to fill the ear canal to stop bleeding. Antibiotics such as amoxicillin can be taken orally to prevent infection.
2. Otitis media: Mostly due to bacterial and other pathogenic infections, inflammation can lead to different degrees of damage to the mucous membrane and blood vessels in the middle ear canal triggering ear bleeding, tinnitus, ear pain, hearing loss and other symptoms. Penicillin V potassium tablets can be taken orally, and antibiotic drugs such as ofloxacin ear drops can be put into the ear canal for anti-infection treatment.
3. Perforated eardrum: If the perforated eardrum is caused by trauma, it will trigger symptoms such as stuffiness in the ear, hearing loss, tinnitus and bleeding in the ear canal. If the perforated eardrum is small in size, it can be treated conservatively with amoxicillin and hemostat. Larger perforated eardrums that do not heal on their own need to be treated with tympanic membrane repair.
Bleeding from the ear canal may be caused by other reasons, such as malignant tumors of the middle ear, etc. It is necessary to consult an otorhinolaryngologist to determine the cause of the bleeding and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
