Chinese medicine identification of gastric ulcer

Gastric ulcer is called gastric pain in Chinese medicine, and it is common to see liver-stomach disharmony (disharmony between the rising of liver and the descending of stomach and internal organs), dampness-heat obstruction (accumulation of dampness and heat to form a stagnant blockage), and gastric yin insufficiency (insufficiency of yin in the stomach), etc. It can be treated by the Chinese medicines of Chaihu Shuohe San, Qingzhong Tang and Yiqi Tang, which can be used to treat the condition respectively. 1. Liver-stomach disharmony type: symptoms include distension and pain in the stomach, pulling on the back and ribs, belching (hiccups), tai yi, symptoms aggravated by emotional instability, and bowel irregularity. Chai Hu Shu Hepatophoresan is recommended to relieve liver qi (regulating stagnation of liver qi), harmonize the stomach and relieve pain. It is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women. 2. Damp-heat intermediate obstruction type: symptoms include burning pain in the stomach and epigastric region, loss of appetite, nausea, thirst, yellow urine and unruly stools. Choose Qingzhong Tang to clear away dampness and heat, regulate Qi and harmonize the stomach. It should not be used by patients with deficiency of spleen and stomach (spleen and stomach weak and cold). 3. Stomach Yin deficiency type: symptoms include vague pain in the stomach and epigastric region, hunger without appetite, dry mouth and throat, dry stools, red tongue and little fluid. It is used to nourish yin and benefit the stomach (replenish yin fluid and enhance the function of the stomach and internal organs). It should not be used by patients with cold and fever. Gastric ulcer patients should not eat greasy and indigestible food during the medication period. Before using Chinese medicine for treatment, it is necessary to have a professional Chinese medicine practitioner’s identification, and it should not be used blindly.
