Can’t you take doxycycline while taking isotretinoin?

You should not take doxycycline while taking isotretinoin, which can increase the risk of pseudotumor cerebri. While taking isotretinoin, you should avoid taking it at the same time as tetracyclines, such as doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline, and oxytetracycline. Taking both types of drugs together increases the risk of pseudotumor cerebri, leading to increased intracranial pressure and symptoms such as optic nerve papillae edema, headache, nausea, vomiting, and blurred vision, which should be discontinued immediately and further investigated. Isotretinoin is associated with certain adverse effects, such as fatigue, allergic reactions, and weight loss. Isotretinoin is contraindicated in women who are pregnant or preparing for pregnancy, and should also be contraindicated in patients who are breastfeeding, have hepatic or renal insufficiency, and vitamin A overdose. Doxycycline is contraindicated in women who are allergic to doxycycline, during pregnancy, in infants and children under 8 years of age. Isotretinoin should be taken under the personal supervision of a medical specialist.
