Congenital macular degeneration is a congenital disease and there is no cure for it. Patients can follow the doctor’s instructions to alleviate the symptoms through oral medication, laser and surgery. Congenital macular degeneration is also called hereditary macular degeneration. The cause of the disease is related to lipid deposits in the retinal pigment epithelial cells, which leads to atrophy of the macular choroid and retina due to the degeneration of these cells. The fundus is completely normal in the early stage of the lesion, but there is a significant decrease in central vision, which is easily misdiagnosed as amblyopia or cataract. 1. Oral medication: For mild macular degeneration, patients can follow the doctor’s instructions to take oral Leu stare soft capsule, lecithin complexed iodine tablets and lutein to relieve the treatment. 2. Laser: If oral medication is not effective, laser photocoagulation can be used to treat macular degeneration. 3. Surgery: In addition to oral medication and laser, surgical methods such as subretinal neovascularization membrane excision, macular transposition and retinal transplantation can also be used for treatment. Patients with congenital macular degeneration need to undergo regular checkups to understand in detail the development of their disease process and respond to it in a timely manner.
