Recently, in the clinic, there are more elderly people who are diagnosed with macular anterior membrane. Some are monocular and some are bilateral. Because most elderly people do not know about ophthalmology diseases, especially fundus disease, as a common retinal disease, it is important to strengthen the popularization and promotion of science. Through the convenient network platform, at least for some elderly people’s children, they can understand the main points of diagnosis and treatment relatively quickly. Now, some health knowledge is briefly introduced. There are various factors that cause macular anterior membrane, there are primary and secondary macular anterior membrane. Generally the incidence of primary is higher. The secondary ones tend to be in the chronic phase of some common fundus diseases or after a long period of time. It mostly occurs in the elderly, with no obvious symptoms initially, and the disease progresses to the point of causing vision loss, dark shadows in front of the eyes, visual distortion, flashing sensation and blurred vision before they become aware enough to seek medical attention from an ophthalmologist. The disease usually progresses slowly, but there are cases of rapid development in a short period of time. Most of the cases are related to chronic ischemia of the retina. Once the diagnosis is clear, monthly observation and treatment is required, and once it has progressed rapidly, anterior membrane peeling is required. The conditions for surgical treatment are generally considered to be: 1, visual acuity of 0.2 or below, 2, visual acuity of 0.4 or above, but macular edema is present on special or auxiliary examination. 3.The anterior membrane is large in extent and pulls the small vessels of macular retina obviously. However, the procedure is difficult, the characteristics and scope of the anterior membrane are different in different patients, and there is a difference in the treatment effect, and there is also a possibility of recurrence after surgery. Therefore, for those with early detection, thin anterior membrane and less severe visual impact, regular examination and observation are important. Those who need surgical treatment should not be nervous and overly afraid, as the surgery is not significantly painful. The post-operative vision recovery period is quite long, usually taking six months, and often patients have unexpected results after surgery. Some patients have long difficulty in deciding to accept anterior membrane surgery treatment, which is also a misunderstanding of the treatment. It needs to be understood that the surgery tests the surgeon’s surgical ability, and some patients delay the surgical treatment and eventually undergo surgery, which often has poor results or leads to the formation of macular value-added scars and loss of central vision, which is really a pity. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the health examination of the eyes, early detection, protection and prevention of the disease.
