Intramucosal prolapse of the rectum, i.e. endorectal intussusception, can be cured with reasonable treatment. Generally speaking, conservative treatment is the first step, and when the patient’s condition and development are comprehensive, surgery can be considered in serious cases. 1. Conservative treatment If the conservative treatment is not effective after a period of time, surgery can be considered. 2. Surgical treatment Commonly used surgical methods include rectal mucosal ligation, perirectal injection, rectal mucosal longitudinal folding injection, modified Delorme surgery (rectal mucosal sleeve resection and bowel wall folding), anastomotic rectal mucosal ring cut and stapling, rectal fixation, sigmoid colectomy, subtotal or total excision of the colon, and rectal proctosis repair.
