The way celecoxib is taken can vary depending on the disease being treated. In the case of osteoarthritis, for example, the dosage is 200mg once daily for the treatment of osteoarthritis. 200mg is taken by mouth at one time; or 100mg is taken at one time, twice daily. 1. For the treatment of osteoarthritis the dose is 200mg per day, which can be taken once a day or twice a day. 2. For the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, the dose is between 100mg and 200mg, taken orally twice a day. 3. For the treatment of acute pain, the first day’s dose is higher, 400mg orally, and can be increased to 600mg if necessary, and thereafter 200mg twice a day as needed. 4. For the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis, take 200mg orally once a day, and if there is no significant improvement in symptoms after 6 weeks, take 400mg orally once a day. Clinical studies have found an increased risk of serious cardiovascular and thrombotic events, gastrointestinal bleeding, and ulcer perforation with the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as celecoxib. The use of celecoxib is clinically contraindicated in patients who are allergic to the drug as well as to sulfonamides, who are taking oral aspirin, who are undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, who have active peptic ulcers or bleeding, and who have severe heart failure. Celecoxib capsules belong to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the use of the drug involves a greater potential risk, and the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest period of time.
