Lipitor, known generically as Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets, is a lipid-modulating drug that reduces plasma cholesterol and LDL levels, among other things. Atorvastatin Calcium Tablet is a lipid-modulating drug that competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase to reduce cholesterol biosynthesis and serum lipoprotein concentration, and also increases hepatic surface LDL receptors to increase LDL uptake and metabolism and reduce LDL levels. This drug can be used to treat primary hypercholesterolemia, coronary heart disease combined with dyslipidemia. It should be noted that Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets should not be used in patients with active liver disease, those with a history of allergy to the ingredients of this medication, or pregnant or lactating women.
