Is heart disease hereditary?

Heart disease has a genetic predisposition. There are many types of heart disease, such as coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathy, atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, tetralogy of Fallot, heart valve disease, arrhythmia, and many other diseases can be called heart disease, which can be divided into congenital and acquired. Some congenital heart diseases, such as atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, tetralogy of Fallot, etc., have a genetic predisposition. Cardiomyopathies such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and mitochondrial myopathy can also be inherited. Arrhythmogenic disorders such as catecholamine-sensitive ventricular tachycardia, long QT interval syndrome, and short QT interval syndrome can also be inherited. Heart disease is often referred to as coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, or coronary heart disease, which is characterized by acute myocardial infarction, leading to death, and is very dangerous. Coronary heart disease also has a certain genetic predisposition. Heredity is not a disease of parents and children must be sick, such as the father or mother are suffering from heart disease, only the probability of children suffering from heart disease increases; acquired factors, including poor lifestyle, smoking, drinking, lack of exercise, obesity and many other factors, can lead to the occurrence of heart disease. Although there is a genetic predisposition to heart disease, but the acquired factors also occupy a large factor, adhere to a healthy lifestyle, can reduce the probability of disease.
