What are the pathologic types of pancreatic tumors?

Pathological typing of pancreatic tumors includes ductal adenocarcinoma, other epithelial carcinomas, neuroendocrine tumors, undifferentiated carcinomas, and mesenchymal carcinomas. Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor of the digestive tract with insidious onset, rapid progression, extremely poor therapeutic efficacy and prognosis, containing benign and malignant tumors (primary and metastatic). Its pathological types mainly include: ductal adenocarcinoma, other epithelial carcinoma, neuroendocrine tumor, undifferentiated carcinoma, mesenchymal carcinoma and other rare subtypes. 1. Ductal adenocarcinoma, the more common type, is accompanied by glandular structures with varying degrees of ductal-like structures and abundant fibrous mesenchyme. 2. Neuroendocrine tumors: including insulinoma, neuroendocrine tumor, neuroendocrine carcinoma (large and small cell), carcinoid tumor, gastrinoma, glucagonoma and so on; 3. Undifferentiated carcinoma: including sarcomatoid carcinoma, giant cell carcinoma, undifferentiated cell carcinoma, non-small cell carcinoma and so on; 4. Mesenchymal carcinoma: including fibrosarcoma, liposarcoma, smooth muscle sarcoma, etc; 5. Other epithelial cancers: including solid pseudo-papillary carcinoma, cystic adenocarcinoma (mucinous, plasma), pancreatic intraductal papilloma, adenocarcinoma mixed with other subtypes, etc; 6. Other rare subtypes: including neuroectodermal tumor. If pancreatic tumor is suspected or diagnosed, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals for comprehensive assessment of the condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to avoid delaying the condition.
