Cataract patients can have fundus photography and OCT done to initially determine the health of the fundus before surgery. Cataract patients may suffer from vision loss and usually need surgical treatment to restore their vision. However, after cataract surgery, vision recovery is closely related to the health of the fundus. Detailed preoperative fundus examination is very important to predict the outcome of the surgery. For patients with less severe cataract clouding, fundoscopy and OCT can be used to initially assess the health of the fundus. However, for patients with severe cataract, because the cloudy lens prevents light from refracting into the eye, it is impossible to conduct fundus examination, so there is no way to clarify the health of the fundus, and can only be clarified by further examination of the fundus after cataract surgery. It is recommended that patients go to the ophthalmology department of regular hospitals and under the guidance of doctors for examination and treatment.
