The Department of Medical Oncology is mainly engaged in the medical treatment of various benign and malignant tumors, such as lipoma, neurofibroma, smooth muscle tumor, hepatic hemangioma, breast cancer, gastric cancer, lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, renal carcinoma, rectal cancer, ovarian cancer and so on.
Medical oncology is a branch of oncology, and other departments such as radiation therapy and surgical oncology belong to the same oncology department as medical oncology. Among them, the Department of Radiation Therapy for Oncology is mainly engaged in radiation therapy for tumors; Surgical Oncology provides comprehensive treatment mainly based on surgery; while Medical Oncology is mainly engaged in the internal medicine treatment of various benign and malignant tumors, which usually does not involve radiation therapy and surgery.
Although the treatment of tumors can be carried out by different departments, at present, the treatment of the vast majority of tumors still needs to adopt the principle of comprehensive treatment, and often combines various treatment modalities, such as surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and biological therapy.
