Atrial septal defects can be treated with interventional and surgical methods. 1. Interventional therapy: under the condition of excluding other combined malformations and under strict control of the indications, atrial septal defects can be treated by atrial septal defect occlusion. It is suitable for atrial septal defects that are ≥3 years old; the diameter of atrial septum is larger than the diameter of the left atrial side of the chosen blocking umbrella; the diameter of secondary foramen ovale type atrial septal defects is ≥5mm with the increase of right cardiac volume loading, and the diameter of atrial septal defects that have a left-to-right shunt is ≤30mm. 2. Surgical treatment: Before interventional surgery is carried out, all patients with simple atrial septal defects that have caused hemodynamic changes are treated with surgical treatment. It is mainly applicable to asymptomatic patients with enlarged right atrium and right ventricle, and should be operated as early as possible when combined with pulmonary hypertension. Patients diagnosed with atrial septal defects are advised to go to the hospital as soon as possible and choose the appropriate method of treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
