Bile duct stones can usually be operated together with gallbladder stones. The main treatment for gallbladder stones is cholecystectomy, such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy and open cholecystectomy. Bile duct stones are a type of cholelithiasis, a condition in which stones occur in any part of the bile ducts, and are also treated with open or laparoscopic surgery. For bile duct stones with gallbladder stones or inflammation, choledochotomy for stone removal + T-tube drainage can be performed after cholecystectomy. Both types of stones can be operated on together in most cases, thus avoiding secondary surgery, relatively less invasive surgery, and faster recovery for the patient after surgery. Patients suffering from gallbladder stones and bile duct stones should have their doctors choose a reasonable surgical method according to their clinical conditions, and they should follow the doctor’s instructions.
