Does high intraocular pressure go away on its own?

Whether high intraocular pressure goes away on its own depends on the cause of the high intraocular pressure. Pathologic causes generally do not disappear on their own and require prompt medical treatment. If it is a transient high intraocular pressure caused by bad eye habits, it can basically disappear on its own after a period of rest and return to normal, so there is no need to worry too much. If it is caused by glaucoma and other ophthalmic diseases, which is a pathologic elevation of intraocular pressure, it will not disappear on its own, and other pathologic changes, such as damage to the optic nerve and loss of visual acuity, may also occur. This situation requires active treatment of eye diseases and control of IOP to avoid adverse consequences. If the patient has symptoms of elevated intraocular pressure, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital in time to find out the cause of the problem and follow the doctor’s instructions, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
