The main cause is related to sexual contact, where sexual intercourse with women suffering from Candida vaginitis or Trichomonas vaginitis can easily be contracted.
Secondly, contact with indirect objects, such as other people’s underwear, bath towels and baths, plus if the foreskin is too long, Candida multiplies and proliferates in the area of the inner plate of the foreskin, the coronal groove and the glans. The localised oedema of the glans mucosa, with mild flaking at the edges, and may be surrounded by papules and small pustules expanding to form glans erosion. Repeated episodes of Candida glans can cause localised changes such as dryness and fibrosis.
