Toe crevice abscesses, large areas of redness and swelling on the back of the foot may be due to bacterial infection of superficial tissues, purulent dactylitis and other bacterial infections. Generally, medication is used for symptomatic treatment, and surgical incision and drainage is used if necessary. 1. Superficial tissue bacterial infection: including boils, acute cellulitis, salpingitis, and lymphadenitis. Inflammation spreads along the fascia to form multiple pus heads. It can generally be treated with penicillin and cephalosporin antimicrobials. If necessary, surgical treatment can be performed to make a “+” shaped incision to remove pus, not yet pus, but already inactivated tissue. 2. Purulent dactylitis: subcutaneous purulent infection of the palmar surface of the end joints of the toes, mostly caused by aggravation of onychomycosis or injury of the toes, mostly caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Aggravation of the infection can compress and paralyze the nerve endings. Antibiotic treatment should be given, with the same medication as above. Surgery is performed if necessary, with nerve block anesthesia and a lateral incision for drainage. The appearance of toe dorsal abscess, do not self-medication, need to seek medical attention as soon as possible to avoid aggravation of the infection.
